Lost & Found

Yesterday B & I had the whole day planned. B had another day off from work so we planned grocery shopping, cooking, and cleaning the garage. But when we got home from the grocery store I yelled for B to STOP because their were two little dogs in our driveway and I was afraid he was going to run over them! We quickly got out of the car and beckoned these little fur balls over to us. They were so friendly and not aggressive at all.
We scooped them up to keep them from getting out in the street. The were a bit dirty and smelly but they were oh so cute! But where did they come from? These little dogs had to belong to someone. They were too cute NOT to. And we couldn't imagine anyone just dropping them off? But if they did drop them off then they definitely dropped them off at the right house. I was ready to adopt this little snaggletooth pup. Isn't this little fur ball the cutest? She had so much hair over her eyes you couldn't see them and I bet she couldn't see very well either!
While B brought and put up the groceries, I got the pups some food and water and they promptly ate it right up! :) While we discussed our plan of attack, the pups made themselves at home walking around our kitchen and living room. We were quickly falling in love.
As much as I would have loved to keep one or both of these precious pups, we knew in our hearts that these dogs were too sweet and too well behaved not to belong to someone. I just knew their owners were out there looking. We loaded them up in our car and started going door to door asking everyone on the street if they were missing their dogs or knew of any neighbors that were. After about 30-40 minutes with no success, a guy drove up asking US if we had seen two lost dogs. We didn't have the dogs with us (they were in the car), so we knew he wasn't just looking for free dogs. He described the dogs to us perfectly and the pups recognized him.
Yay! for happy reunions! Secretly I wanted to keep them but I was definitely relieved that the owners were found. Can you imagine us with four dogs? Oh, wait, that is totally imaginable and will probably happen one day! Just not this week. ;)

Makaylan Joy Walker

Please allow me to introduce you to my brand new little niece, Makaylan Joy Walker. She was born yesterday around 8 am and is 6 pounds 1 oz. 19 1/2 inches long and has the cutest little nose ever!

The day began early at 3 am with a phone call from my oldest brother, Chris. I didn't answer right away because well... I was asleep. After a few seconds it hit me that my brother called me in the middle of the night which I'm pretty sure in all of my 27 years of living that has never happened...
until now... but he had a pretty good reason to call at 3 am. His wife, Amanda, was in labor and was already dilated 6 cm. Makaylan was going to make her appearance today, April 28, more than 2 weeks early! Since B and I had stayed up late the night before (and by late I mean REAL late - like 1:30am late) we decided NOT to leave for Louisiana right away and to try to go back to sleep. But seriously? Try NOT to go back to sleep after your brother tells you that your niece is about to arrive! I called my mom and shrilled about the excitement. My sister in law Nicole and I texted about travel plans. Then I shut my eyes and finally fell back asleep. I knew if I didn't get any sleep the next day would be miserable as we traveled to Louisiana to meet our new niece!
It just so happened that B was off Thursday so it worked out perfectly that the both of us could drive down to meet her. It's about 3 1/2 hours to the hospital where she was born. We made the trip down there and back in one day. We didn't want to leave the dogs in their kennels ALL DAY or in the back yard on a hot day all day so, of course we piled them up in the backseat and we made a family affair of the situation. :)
Of course, we immediately fell in love with her. I'm not sure that I've ever held a 6 pound baby. Landon was almost 9 pounds and there is quite a difference between those 3 pounds. She felt so tiny in my arms! Her fingers are the smallest things I've ever seen! B did great holding her. She kind of started to cry a little and he bounced her like he had done it a hundred times. She went right back to sleep.
While at the hospital we also were able to hang out with my other brother, Craig, and his family. Remember Landon? How could you forget that face? hehe. I love this picture of the two of them. So sweet. Landon got a little fussy being in the hospital lobby for so long so we took turns walking him around outside. Their was a little fountain and a stream that made him happy. He definitely loves being outside! :)
Landon got to meet his new cousin Makaylan too! We couldn't let him get too close though because he wanted to show his love a little TOO much! ha! He kept trying to grab at her. I can't wait though til I can take pictures of the two of them playing together!
So, what was once a family of two...
is now a family of THREE! Here is tired and proud mommy, and daddy going on about 1 hour of sleep holding their baby Makaylan! :)
I love y'all!

Our week in iPhone pics

B is holding our little friend Max. This is one of the few times Buie has ever held a child so it was definitely worthy of snapshot. He did a great job, by the way.
Here's B with the emergency radio listening to the weather report as the five of us (me, B, Scooter, Conner & Hazel) sat in the bathroom waiting for the storm to pass.
Also, as we were watching the weather (before the TV went out) they mentioned a "Buie, AR." We had NO IDEA there was a Buie, Arkansas. :) And it's not too far away from us so we are most definitely going to visit it sometime soon. Mom came over Thursday and helped me around the house. She helped me get our table all ready for Easter. Friday evening our family came over to enjoy a yummy Easter dinner.
I picked up some GORGEOUS tulips at Kroger and I couldn't help but snap a picture. Aren't they gorgeous!?
This morning I opened up the back door and found that this guy had brought us an Easter surprise.
Yes, my friends, that would be a mole. Gross me out.
And that about does it- our week straight from my iPhone! Happy Easter!

Easter Dinner

The table is set! Thanks to my mom for coming over to help me do some things around the house. Moms our good like that, aren't they? This has been a hard week for me physically because of the weather. I has literally rained everyday and my Fibromyalgia has definitely taken a toll for the worse. But I knew all week I had a very special dinner to look forward to. This is our second year to have Easter at our house. We invite both sides of the family and always have a great time!

B cooked a beef tenderloin last year and everyone loved it so we did the same this year with plenty of side dishes for everyone! We laughed and talked but mainly we just let Landon entertain us.

Afterwards I dragged everyone out to the front porch for pictures because last year I forgot to take any. But this year I made up for it!

Here is the Walker side of the family. We missed Chris and Amanda but they are due with Makaylan in a couple of weeks and couldn't travel. So we'll let their absence slide this time. ;)

Both Buies: me & B with his parents, Carole and Rufus. They are seriously the best in-laws I could have ever asked for!
me & B with my parents, Tommy & Cindy - the definitely of "the best parents ever!" :)
And of course, Landon had his own mini photo shoot. He had a fever so they took all his clothes off in hopes of lowering his fever.
My brother, Craig, his beautiful wife, Nicole, and their son, Landon, who is, I'm convinced, the cutest baby EVER!
me and Landon!
Every time I'm around my family I just realize how lucky I am. I have a great husband, wonderful in-laws, the best parents, siblings, pretty cool sister-in-laws, and the cutest little nephew ever. I'm pretty lucky. But above all, on this Easter weekend, I realize how lucky I am because I have a Savior who died for me over 2000 years ago. He died, rose again and He's coming back us! How lucky are we! Happy Easter!

House of Love!

Happy Anniversary to us! We have officially been in our house 2 years!
It was on Tax Day in 2009 that we closed on this gorgeous 3 bedroom/2.5 bath dreamer! We saw it online and fell in love. Even though this house is 20 minutes away from just about everything in our lives, we still love it. There are days I complain about the commute to Little Rock, though short, it's still annoying, especially when I have to make it more than once a day. But when I come home to our home, it's all worth it.

In the next days and weeks, we will be reminiscing about our home and the changes that we've made in this house and to this home in the last couple of years. Stay tuned!

Landon Time!

Since I'm working from home now & setting my own schedule I've been making sure to work in some more "Landon time!" For his first 6 months or so, I really only saw him about once or twice a month. But I'm trying to see him once a week now! :) He makes my week so much better. I mean, look at that face!
Landon is 9 months old now and he has 4 teeth and can say "mama and dada." Today I was making chicken noises like "bawk bawk!" for pure entertainment for him and Landon was repeating after me. ha! It was too cute!

I think Landon is starting to recognize me when he sees me. Before I wasn't sure if he was just smiling because I was a friendly face that was making silly faces but now I'm pretty sure he knows my face. :) He probably knows it best with a camera in front of it, though! I love this kid so much! I really can't imagine loving my own kid more than this but I'm sure one day it will happen. But for now, I will pour all of my love into my nephew.

And in 4 more weeks, I will have a little niece! I can not wait to meet her!

Traveling South

What a busy last few days! I had an amazing weekend in Canton, TX and in my hometown Minden, LA. Wednesday evening I left Arkansas with my Kelly Moore bag, our winnings from Vegas and and antique shopping on the brain. Upon arriving in my hometown I was pleasantly surprised that the Subway there serves gluten free sandwiches. Yay! I ate at Subway three times in the course of 5 days! That's how excited I was about those sandwiches. In high school and college I probably ate there at least 3 times a week until I found out about my Celiac Disease. Apparently Subway has put gluten free options in several test markets and the Shreveport/Minden area just happens to be one of the test markets. It's too bad that Little Rock is not one of those test markets.

Thursday morning my alarm went off at 5:15am. Wow! I don't remember that last time I woke up that early! It was all in the name of CANTON, though. I went to Canton, TX for the first time last fall with my mom and I had a BLAST! I actually promised to blog about my trip to Canton and never did. So please forgive me! Maybe this post will make up for it. :)

We met up with some of mom's life long friends. :)

We arrived in Canton right at 9am when all the booths were opening. I had my list all made out from our fall trip. I still had several items I was looking for so I hit up some of favorite spots I remembered from last time, including Simplicity. They have the most wonderful smelling candles as well as home decor. To find most of the items that were on my list, we went to the flea market area where people basically bring "old junk" to sell. This is where I find all the good stuff - like 2 handmade quilts for $50 when they normally sell for several hundred dollars a piece.

Probably one of my favorite booths was this one where they made homemade Happy Meals for Doggies! :) How cute are these!? Of course, I picked up a meal for both Scooter and Conner!

Overall, it was a great trip! We literally were there when the shops opened and stayed til they closed. Thursday is a great day to go because the crowds aren't as bad as they are on on weekend! It was perfect! Also, I found several things on my list including a couple photo props, some home decor, some treats for the dogs and even some treats for me! I am definitely already looking forward to our next trip to Canton!
