Life on the Farm

This past week I've been living the good life on the farm... well, sort of. I've actually been chicken sitting for a co-worker. That's right, I said "chicken sitting." It's similar to dog sitting just substitute chickens for dogs. A lot more clucking and a lot less barking but everything else is pretty much the same...well, except for the fact that chickens are, in fact, the dumbest animal ever created (sorry, God, but they are).

There were three of them. I liked the dark spotted one the best.
Each evening I would visit them and scatter their feed and they would run to me and BAUK BAUK BAUK!
And the best part... they left me little presents each day. The best organic eggs I've ever eaten.
So if you need a good chicken sitter, call me. I'm experienced. I guess I can add that to my resume, huh. ;)

Inspiration: Home Office

I am in need of a desperate home office makeover. Right now it is the "dog's room" but I would rather it be called "my room" and use it for whatever my heart desires. Every woman needs her own room for crafts, gift wrapping, writing letters, etc. I will also work from this room so it will be sort of a home office, even though I work out of the home full-time (confusing, I know). I have a feeling that it will still be the "dog's room" but I'll pretend like it's mine, too.

This weekend I will be picking out paint colors - I'm thinking a pale grey/blue... I can't wait to get started. The dogs' kennels will be temporarily be moved to the back porch during this process. And don't worry, I'll take before and after pics for you! :)

Have a great productive and restful weekend! Is it possible to do BOTH - restful AND productive?! I sure hope so!

Sweet Maggs

I believe this is the third post I have written on our current foster dog, Maggie. We've had her for about a month now. I seriously can't believe she hasn't been adopted yet. She is perfect! I specifically remember telling my husband that we wouldn't have this one long because she would go FAST!
When the time comes, I just know whoever picks Maggie will be a special family. Here are a couple of cute pictures of the precious pup. This weekend I'm taking her to C.A.R.E. to be shown. Hopefully she'll pick the right family just for her because we all know that they actually pick US, right? instead of the other way around... ;)
If you're looking for a new pet, stop by C.A.R.E.'s location on Kavanaugh this Saturday from 11am to 3pm to meet several friendly and furry faces, including this one! See you there!

C.A.R.E.'s headquarters is located at 5516 Kavanaugh Blvd. between U.S. Pizza and Ozark Outdoors.

10 Things You Might Not Know About Me

My dear friend, Angie, who lives in Mozambique, blogged today and listed 10 things that surprisingly I did NOT know about her. MOST of them I already knew but some of them, were, in fact a suprise! (I mean, who can't drink liquid medicine? Weirdo! Just kidding, Ang.) Anyway, here are my 10 Things You Might Not Know About Me things: {drumroll please}

1. My husband and I started dating when I was a college student and he was an assistant football coach at the same school. We weren't sure of the rules of coach/student dating rules so we kept it a secret until I graduated. We started dating two weeks before I graduated college, so the good news is we only had to keep it a secret for two weeks! :)

2. My husband says that I snore but I think that he lies.

3. I want to have my very own pack of dogs like Cesar Milan...and I am very serious about this one.

4. I have been diagnosed with all of these at one point in my life: Fibromyalgia, Celiac Disease and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I am tired about 99% of the day but I am thankful for a husband who is patient with me and who COOKS! :) (Oh and in case you are wondering...I am a lot better than I used to be - right, Angie?)

5. I have traveled to 8 different countries: Italy, France, Switzerland, England, South Africa, Brazil, Cananda, Mexico. I LOVE to travel!

6. I have a heart for adoption. I want to adopt one day at least ONE child and maybe more.

7. I am in the process of starting a brand new business - a wedding planning business - with one of my dear friends, Christen. Our business is called, Studio2B, and you can learn more about us here.

8. My dream in life is to be a supportive wife, a photographer, and a stay at home mom - the kind of mom who writes notes to her kids on napkins and puts them in their school lunches. :)

9. I have a heart for New Orleans. It is a great city with a lot of heart and soul. I have never taken B there but when I do it will be a glorious day.

10. I want to live on a farm one day. With tons of animals, a garden, a big pond, and a wrap around porch with a porch swing where I can drink sweet tea and watch the sunset with B every evening.

That is all.

Road Trip!

This weekend I'm headed to see these lovely ladies in Austin, Texas. Becca and I were college roommates for all four years...yes, that's what I said - ALL FOUR YEARS! How many people can say that they stuck with the same person all through college? I kind of felt like we were married sometimes, but in a good way. We complimented each other. She was immaculately clean. I was sporadically messy. She was responsible and well, I really wasn't. (but don't worry, I have grown up since then). I learned a lot from Becca and quite frankly I'm not sure why she put up with me for that long but I'm surely glad that she did! One thing I love about Becca is her laugh! She always makes me laugh so incredibly hard... like the kind of laugh that makes you cry and makes your gut hurt. I can't wait to laugh that hard again this weekend.

Robyn and I met...hmmm... you know, I can't actually remember when we met. Huh. I kind of feel like she's always been in my life. I believe it was my sophomore year in college when we became suitmates. Then, we lived together for one fun summer in Caddo Apartments, and the rest is history. We took a road trip to Orlando together and completely bonded! We are kindred spirits (Anne of Green Gables anyone?) Robyn knows how to have a good time and is completely laid back about everything, which is just like me!
When you get the three of us together, who knows what will happen. :) I can't wait to just be with these girls. They are the kind of girls I can just sit with and enjoy their company and not say a word...just sit. So relaxing. You know what I'm talking about, right?

Needless to say, I'm beyond excited about this trip! I'm sure we'll have lots of pictures to post when I return! :)

Down by the creek...

In the past two weeks, I have been so busy trying to cram in as much as possible with wedding planning, photography, caring for our foster dog and the usual errands, cooking, laundry, cleaning, etc. that just comes with life. Not surprisingly, I over did it and got sick last week. I always do this when the weather just gets a little warm and nice. I get really excited and just go to town and then realize I'm not super woman who can stay up past midnight every night for a week and not reap the consequences. You only live once, right? Well, in the midst of the madness of life, I was able to play a little. You see, work, for me, is playing. What better job than to take pictures for a living and play in a creek or frolic in the park just like I was a little kid.

Here is a little taste of what I did this weekend...

These two people have quickly become some of our best friends. Jessica and I went to college together but weren't ever "running in the same circle." We reconnected through church and found out quickly that our husbands had a lot in common - which is always a plus when finding "couple friends." I had a blast at this photo shoot! I even took my shoes and socks off and waded through a creek to get these shots! So fun! Makes me miss weekends in the country...

Maggie needs a home!

Hi fellow dog lovers! I am writing to you about our foster dog, Maggie! She has been with us for two weeks now and I am quickly growing to love her! She is so full of joy at all times! She runs, jumps and plays like any normal happy dog! We love having her in our home, but it is only fair that she get to enjoy the perks of a REAL and PERMANENT home! We are only keeping her temporarily as a foster dog until someone adopts her. I thought I would share a few more pictures of Mags in hopes of you falling in love with her, too. Please feel free to pass this blog link on to a friend or family member if you think they might be interested in adopting Maggie.
Anyone who is interested in adopting Maggie, must fill out an application online through the organization Central Arkansas Rescue Effort or C.A.R.E.
