Big D Bucket List!

Well, I'm finally get up a post about our fun weekend in Dallas! My mom, Zuzka and myself loaded up Thursday morning and headed to the big D with BIG plans! Zuzka, an exchange student from Slovakia, has been living with my mom and dad since January and has become my adopted little sister. She's so full of life and energy. Secretly she makes me want to be 17 again but then I remember all the broken hearts and trial and error I had to go through to make it to 29 and I'm perfectly happy where I am. It is fun to watch her though, so exuberant and uninhibited.

Zuzka had a bucket list when coming to the states, many of which she has accomplished. She attended her first prom ever, ate crawfish, ate beignets in New Orleans. Zuzka had a couple of things on her bucket list that required a trip to Dallas, Texas. Well, who are we to keep a gal from marking off things on her "to do" list, especially if that list is a FUN list! :)
Stop #1: She met several of our Texas cousins. I'm not exactly sure this was on her bucket list but we made it happen anyway. :)

Stop #2: The JFK Memorial and the Sixth Floor Museum. This one I was most excited about because of my obsession with conspiracy theories. If you don't know much about the JFK conspiracy (which I'm not sure how you wouldn't know), google it. Interesting stuff. I have been to Dallas a thousand times and have never taken the time to walk around on the grassy knoll, read the plaques and markers on the buildings or to go to the museum. The sixth floor museum which used the be the book depository where Oswald supposedly took his shot has a very informative tour. Of course it never touches on the second shooter or any of the conspiracy theories but it was still an informative tour.

Stop #3: SIX FLAGS! I've never ever in my life seen someone so excited about going to an amusement park. I quickly realized that Six Flags is probably close to the last place on earth I would want to spend a day. I don't do rides; they give me migraines and vertigo. I don't do crowds...for many reasons. I can't eat any of the food there- I'm gluten free. Oh and probably the most important, I HATE people dressed up in animal costumes. So you're probably thinking, why in the world did you go? Good question. The answer is simple. To see the look on her face. It was all worth it. Zuzka even got me on a couple of rides. :)

I'm going to miss this girl. So glad we had this time to spend together. Will cherish the last few times we have together before she heads home to Slovakia.

Summer Bucket List (Updated)

*Updated!

With the arrival of Memorial Day means that summer is here for school kids.  Summertime was always such a fun time in our family growing up. Mom was so good to plan fun activities and take us to neat places. While we don't have kids and yes we still have jobs that go on in the summer time, it doesn't mean we can't enjoy a little fun this summer. So me & B made a bucket list for this summer to accomplish a few fun things. Take a peak at our summer bucket list:

  • Go Camping
  • Eat snow cones
  • Make smores by the fire pit
  • Have a family picnic
  • Host a game night with friends
  • Little Rock Farmer's Market
  • Go to a Local Museum
  • Traveler's Game
  • Enjoy Watermelon
  • Little Rock Zoo
  • Make Homemade Lemonade
  • Grill out with friends (at least once) Memorial Day Weekend we grilled out twice with friends! :)
  • Take our nephew & niece somewhere fun for an afternoon (This one might be hard to do with our niece since she lives in Louisiana but we will try!)
  • Movies in the Park  Wondering what movie I saw? Check it out here!
  • Finish my photography home studio! I'm super excited about this one. :)

Movies in the Park

Today is the first official day of summer and I am marking things off my Summer Bucket List. Last summer I really wanted to go to Movies in the Park but I never did. This year, it went on the list. So I gathered my best girl friends for one of my all time favorite movies - Steel Magnolias!

We met at the Capital Hotel Bar & Grill for dinner beforehand then walked down to the amphitheater. I brought a big quilt for us to sit on a plenty of bug spray for everyone. To be honest, we didn't watch much of the movie but we had such a good time catching up with good friends.

And the sunset was worth it all. I will definitely go back again for another Movies in the Park night. To check out the schedule go to Movies in the Park website.

Bucket List Update

Over here on my old blog I wrote a post about my Bucket List. I wrote about four things I was going to cross off my list this year. Let's review:
1) Own a home with my new husband... CHECK~!
If you'll remember in April we close on a beautiful home. I can't say that we are COMPLETELY unpacked yet (there are still boxes in the garage) but we are loving our new home!

2) Train for a Marathon...one day! This one is a work in progress but I DID run the 5K and plan to run it again this coming March.
3) Go on vacation with my cousin, Lauren....CHECK~!
This September, eight of my friends headed to Seaside, Florida and had a blast. Lauren and I have always wanted to vacation together since we were little kids going on family vacation.

4) See Dave Matthews Band LIVE in concert....CHECK!~!

This week I was able to check this one off my list. I went with my husband, one of my best friend's, Alicia, and her friend, Chris. Dave is a musical genius and I LOVED hearing him live~!

Here are a few of our pictures from DMB:

I am looking forward to marking MORE things off my bucket list. What are some things on YOUR bucket list or what are some things you have marked OFF your list? I would love to hear about them... Leave me some love!
