We have pumpkins!

This past weekend we had a great time with friends carving pumpkins and really getting into the season of things.

Our wreath on our door. The "B" for Buie, obviously. I was pretty excited about finally putting this "B" on our door. I bought it several months before the wedding. :)

Our first pumpkins we've ever carved! Yup, that's right... the whole time we dated (for three years) we never carved a pumpkin! Technically I carved the face, he just cut out the top. It took a huge knife to cut the top out and I don't think he trusted me to do it. :)

Our pumpkin in the dark. Doesn't it look great?

Our door complete with a new doormat and plenty of pumpkins. (You can see that we need to paint around our door... oh the many projects with a new home!)

HAPPY FALL!!!

Terrible Two's

A year ago, Buie and I got a dog. It was mainly my decision considering at that time, we were not married and it wasn't "our" condo. But knowing it would soon be OUR condo and OUR life together, Buie was in on the decision making. Against his better judgment he gave in to his sad little puppy dog eyes. A year ago, we adopted the 10 month old Cocker Spaniel and named him Conner. Within minutes of having him he won us over! We were in love!

Conner will be two in December and I believe what everyone says about the terrible twos is true...even for dogs. While Conner is so sweet, loyal and loving, he can also have his moments.

He had one of these moments yesterday.

THIS is what I came home to yesterday. Thankfully my camera was sitting right next to the front door so I snapped a few pictures right when I saw this mess....

Apparently, Conner found a trash bag full of shredded paper. On Sunday, Buie shredded a bunch of old bills and we had it all bagged up ready to go to recycling.

After I got over the initial shock, we played in it for a little while and he had so much fun. I figured there was really no way to disipline him because I didn't actually SEE him to do. He could have done this hours ago and would have been confused as to why I was scolding him... Anyway, it was fun playing in it for the time. And we had it cleaned up before Daddy came home! :)

Dogs can be little stinkers sometimes, but if you stress over the little things you will never learn to appreciate the fun times. Like the saying goes, When life hands you lemons you make lemonaid... or in our case, When Conner makes a mess with shredded paper, you PLAY in it!

And besides, how could I be mad at a face like this?

PURGE is the word of the weekend!

Buie and I are STILL going through our house sorting our "stuff." And if I've said it once I've said it a MILLION times! WE HAVE SO MUCH STUFF!!! There are boxes and bags and baskets and Rubbermaid bins FULL of just stuff stuff STUFF! I know it will only get worse before it gets better but I thought I was past that point already. I think there are things growing in our walls and reproducing while we sleep. I have given 6 bags of clothes to Goodwill and I still don't have enough hangers to hang all of my clothes on my side of the closet (NOT that my clothes are EVER all clean at the same time.) There are mounds of laundry, boxes of unwanted dishes and kitchen odds and ends, and practically a whole room full of "I don't know what to do with this." How do people do it? How do people combine two lives into one, sort through twenty to thirty years of memories and decide what to save and what to keep without going insane! And not to mention still keep up a house, two cats, a dog and a full-time job! LIFE IS FUN!

So....PURGE is the word of the weekend.

I have asked myself...waaaay too many times..."Do I need this? Do I use this? Have I EVER used this? Chances are the answer is NO. For some reason when my grandmother moved out of her house this year I brought it upon myself to keep all (and I do mean ALL) of her kitchen utensils, as if by keeping her kitchen utensils would somehow keep her house alive in my memory. Perhaps it would help but the greatest gift, my grandmother gave me was her hutch. I love it! I decided that the hutch was beautiful enough a piece to capture every memory of her house I ever needed...therefore, I purge. I never knew how many strainers I had...nor how many my grandmother had for that matter. I mean, who needs a white strainer and a red one and an orange one? I kept the orange one, by the way...and YES, I use it! :)

So....I continue to PURGE. Please pray for my sanity and I search for serenity in this condo. I know it's in here somewhere...
