Weekend Review::

This weekend was crazy busy but definitely in a good way!

Friday night I headed up to my brother & sister-in-law's house to visit my cute little nephew and eat dinner with some friends of ours! My sister-in-law is such a good cook. She made my grandmother's brisket and it was AMAZING! I'm sure I have the recipe somewhere but I have never made. Now I'm definitely going to have to make it sometime and I will share the recipe with y'all.

Landon, my nephew, is growing up so fast! He is almost 2 months old. I can't believe how fast he growing. He smiles all the time now - I just love it! I'm ready for him to be at the fun age so I can play with him but at the same time, I just don't want him to grow up!

Saturday morning I woke up bright and early for a maternity shoot with some of my dearest friends, Jessica and Alan. Jessica and I went to college together but didn't really hang out then. We reconnected through church here and has quickly become one of my best friends. Sometimes it makes me sad that we missed out on all of those years we COULD have been hanging out in college, but I'm glad she's in my life now. And it helps that our husbands get along really well, too! We just love having a double date with them. :) I can't wait to meet their first born in just a few weeks- little David Alan.

Saturday afternoon, I helped host a bridal shower with some of my close college friends who are all bridesmaids in Whitney's wedding. They got lots of goodies to start their new life together - October 16th is the big day!

Saturday night I was too exhausted to think but I did managed to swing by the brand new Kroger Marketplace. I was overwhelmed to say the least. I walked around in awwe for about an hour and left with nothing because the lines were too long. I'll have to go back when all the hype dies down so I can actually purchase something!

Sunday was a day of cleaning at the Buie household. We bought a new bed and it is being delivered this week so I have been cleaning out our bedroom to make room for our upgrade. Currently we have a queen but B has been asking for a new matress because he LOATHES the one that we have now. I cannot wait to sink myself into our new comfy matress this weekend!

Sunday night I attended an awesome worship service at Eikon Church. It was a really great worship time that I needed. Afterwards we went out to eat with a few people from church. I am looking forward to seeing what God has in store for this church.
Whew! Now you know why I'm tired today!

fur babies

I've had kind of an off week. I haven't really been feeling very well lately. I'll spare you the details. But I've been looking back through some of my iPhone pics yesterday and today and found some of our fur children that I couldn't resist sharing with y'all. I hope y'all enjoy!

cat studio

Several years ago when I was shopping with a childhood friend we came across this company- cat studio- and I fell.in.love. I remember going on and on about how cute their designs were. My friend secretly went back and purchased an Arkansas dish towel for me at the same store and gave it to me as a gift. Since I had recently moved from Louisiana to Arkansas it was a perfect gift! However, the first time I washed the dish towel it got caught somehow in the dryer and ripped. I was super sad! (Sorry, Brook!) I actually still have the towel but it is, in fact, tattered so I don't display it or anything. I have searched for another one but I couldn't remember the companys name. Yesterday I was wasting time and walked into our local Hallmark store and found tons of these dish towels! I was so excited! I picked up one Arkansas one, one Louisiana towel and a Texas towel for a family member in Texas. Love this company!

Also, my mom recently purchased the Louisiana pillow for my birthday. I have been wanting one for years but I just couldn't spend that much for a pillow myself. Maybe I'll ask for the Arkansas one for Christmas. Since I am from Louisiana and my husband is from Arkansas, these are perfect to hang in our home. And who knows? I might even do something crafty with them like put them on a canvas and hang them on our wall or something. The wheels are turning!

Buie's Zoo

These past two weeks it has been a literal zoo at the Buie's house! I received an email from a friend of mine over at C.A.R.E. She asked if we would mind helping out fostering these two little beagle pups for a couple of weeks while their regular foster went on a vacation. Of course we didn't mind! How could I say no to these faces!

Meet Pepper: Pepper, a beagle mix, is very shy at first. It took her a few days to warm up to me and even longer to warm up to Buie, but once she finally did warm up she totally fits her name Pepper because she is full of spice! :) She is laid back, happy and always wants to play! She still tends to be a bit jumpy but it's probably because she's had a rough life - possibly even been abused. :( I know, sooo sad! But she is house trained and would be a great dog as long as she stays in the same house with her best friend Maggie May.

Meet Maggie May (not to be confused with Maggie, another beagle we fostered). Maggie is laid back, well manered, house trained, and loves to be pampered! It is so cute how well these too dogs get along. They seriously love each other. I would hate to see them split up!

Remember Maggie? We fostered her for a few months, then she found a home, then we dog sat her while her parents went on vacation? Well, now she came back for yet another visit while her parents got in one last trip before school started back. It was fun to pick Maggie up and see that she instantly recognized us. :)
It was also so fun to see THREE beagles running around in our yard: Maggie, Maggie May and Pepper. Welcome to Buie's Zoo!
So if you're keeping track that's Conner, Scooter, Maggie, Maggie May, Pepper on the dogs team and George and Hazel for the cat's team - a total of SEVEN animals! Thank goodness that only lasted a couple of weeks - I was quickly running out of dog food! But the truth is...I miss them already. Maggie went back to her home and Pepper and Maggie May are back with her foster parents. If you are interested in adopting Maggie May and Pepper, please contact Central Arkansas Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.)

Weekend Review: Family Wedding

I had so much fun this past weekend! I left Friday morning early and headed to Dallas to celebrate my cousin, Cari's wedding. We have a huge family and are very close so it was great to see everyone. Most of the girl cousins are so close in age, we are all like sisters. Here we are at the wedding reception! It was so great to see all of them! I even reconnected with one cousin who I haven't seen since childhood since she lives in California. So fun!
Cari is super creative and had a fun idea at her reception. She had a photo booth set up where people could come take silly pictures. Here is me and my first cousin and best friend, Lauren! She was my maitron of honor in our wedding. :) Love her to death! I think this one is a framer!
me and my two wonderful parents, Cindy and Tommy. Who do you think I look the most like?
I snapped this one of my cousin Cari and my uncle Jerry as she headed down the aisle with tears in her eyes. So sweet.
Not only did we celebrate Cari & Jake's wedding, we celebrate my MeMe's 80's birthday. We gave her a digital picture frame to fill with pictures of her grandkids and great grandkids! She loved it!
I was glad that Chris and Amanda were there, too! Chris is my oldest brother and this is his new beautiful wife! :) Love y'all!
What a great weekend that was packed FULL of family! Congrats to Cari and Jake Surry!

Camera Bag for Sale

Recently Buie bought me an awesome hiking bag for all of my camera gear. I was pumped. Only one problem - he ordered TWO instead of one. The company apparently has a one week return policy that we weren't aware of until it was too late so this amazing bag could be YOURS, my friends! It is a Tamrac brand camera bag and the price is $139.95. It has never been used and is an amazing looking bag!

It has enough room for your lenses and has plenty of padding to feel secure on a hike or while camping in the great outdoors! It can even hold your lap top, (up to a 17") too!

Please email me if you are interested!

I was featured!

My good friend Cara Wilkerson featured me on her blog Live the Home Life. She has this fabulous feature where she take a piece of drab furniture and uses her creative juices to turn into something spectacular. Take a look to see what plans she has for our piece. I can't wait to get to work on this!

Weekend Review: Dad's birthday

This weekend we celebrated my dad's 59th birthday here in Little Rock. Lately my parents have been burning rubber on the road between here and Louisiana. It could have something to do with this little guy...
Sunday for brunch I met up with my brother Craig, his wife, Nicole and my sweet little nephew and my mom and dad for a yummy egg white omlet that was amazing! I was so pleased that Cracker Barrel was so accomodating to our gluten intolerances. Did you notice I said "OUR" gluten intolerances? My mom was just recently diagnosed with a gluten intolerance, too, so we are BOTH eating gluten free! It's kind of fun to have something else in the family go through the same things as me. :)
This was Landon's first outing to Cracker Barrel and he slept through the whole thing. :)

My dad and I snapped a quick pic before he took off on his birthday golf trip with Craig. (Please excuse my wind-blown hair.)

Mom wanted a piece of the picture-takin' action. Man, was it bright, sunny and HOT! Just a MERE 102 degrees! I still can't believe they actually wanted to play golf in that kind of weather! Crazy boys!

Dad and Craig met up with another Father/Son couple who they have known for years! They are actually from Louisiana, too, and now live in Maumelle near Craig & Nicole. Small world! They were laughing at me for taking their picture but I know they'll be glad they have it! :)

Buie couldn't be with us Sunday for brunch so we took dad out to eat Saturday night after HE played golf with his father-in-law. Can you tell our men like to play golf?
I think it's cute how they have bonded over golf. This picture was taken last year. This was my father handing over his set of old golf clubs to Buie. I knew this would be a monumentous occasion in the family so I asked mom to snap a pic with her iPhone and I'm glad I did. When I look at this photo it doesn't look like anything special but the meaning behind it says so much! It means so much to me that my dad has taken the time to include my husband in something he loves so much. He bought him a new bag. He gives him advice. He takes Buie to the driving range and gives him encouragement when he hits a good shot. Just in the last year, I can see how close my father and Buie have become- all because of a game of golf. So this is why I'll never complain that my husband plays golf. :)
One last pic of my beautiful parents. The lighting in the restaurant was terrible but they are still beautiful and handsome as ever! Love y'all! Hope you had a great birthday, dad!
