Birthday Review: Cajun Style

I celebrated my 26th birthday this weekend with friends and family. We kept with sort of a Cajun/Louisiana theme without really realizing it. Saturday night we went to Maddies Place (my choice) in Little Rock. Maddies Place serves "fresh adaptations of comfort food with a New Orleans influence, served in a funky, informal, family-friendly environment." They have THE BEST chicken fingers that are cooked in cornmeal which makes them gluten free! So yummy! And the restaurant is decorated in NOLA decor everywhere! Makes me feel like home! Afterwards, we headed on over to Cajuns to sit out of the deck and listen to some live music. All in all, it was a great night with friends! These aren't the greatest pictures but it's the only ones I got before my camera died. I had Lasik eye surgery and still can't wear make up. That's why I'm looking a little rough in these. :)
My birthday was made complete with this yummy gluten free cake. It is so rich and delicious! There's enough to eat on it all week! Thanks, Christen!

Honestly, I just googled Fleur de lis and a bunch of images came up. I need to go back and see where it came from so I can note it on my blog. I don't want to steal anything, you know... when I find it I'll let you know. I think this might be my inspiration for my next painting!
