Happy Fall Y'all!

Well, it's official! Fall is here and I could not be happier! Pumpkins. Mums. Football. Changing Leaves. Amazing Weather! Who could ask for anything more? It's starting to look like fall around the Buie household. This week the pumpkins came down from the attic and onto the mantle. Real ones will be bought soon for the front porch! But the #1 way you know it's finally fall at the Buies....

Conner has been in his LSU jersery for the last few weeks! GEAUX TIGERS! We decided that Scooter is an Arkansas fan and Conner is an LSU fan since the Buies are a house divided when it comes to football. I guess I need to break down and buy Scooter an Arkansas jersey, huh? ;)
Happy Fall, Y'all? How are you celebrating these cooler days lately?

This is the latest picture of my little nephew, Landon. I think he is the cutest baby I've ever seen and I just HAD to share this picture with you all. He LOVES bath time! :)

Wondering how I'm doing with my "So Long, Starbucks" plan? I'm on Day 12 now and I've officially gone from 2 or 3 cups of coffee a day, down to just ONE cup a day! (except for Saturdays, I allow myself an extra cup because I usually have several photo shoots this day and could use the extra caffeine)

I am now going to start drinking half-caf for a few weeks and crossing my fingers the caffeine headaches don't come back! :)

Just a Tuesday...

Hey there. Nothing special going on in my life... I'm working on the last few drops of coffee in my coffee cup. They are left over from my 8am cup this morning, my ONLY cup today, thank you very much. I think this is day 6 of So Long Starbucks and I am still weaning myself off...slowly. Today is the only day I haven't woken up to a pounding headache, but I went and got a cup of coffee anyways. (probably shouldn't have) Next week, I start drinking half caf... pray for me.

This past weekend, B & I went back to our alma mater, OBU, to watch a football game. Seeing as how B was grad. assistant on the football team and a former player it was hard for him to just sit and watch. Every play he yells and tells the players what they should be doing as if he is still coaching...it's really quite cute. ;) B didn't think it was cute when they lost though. I heard the word "stupid" and "retarded" a few times on the drive home. lol

B's college roommate, Brent, came up to visit for a few days as well which is always a good time. We get along so well. B's name is also Brent, so you can imagine the confusion of having a roommate also named Brent - which is one reason why MY Brent mainly goes by "Buie" or for the purpose of this blog, "B."

I did manage to injure myself this weekend. Apparently, the coffee gods are cursing me because I am drinking less coffee these days. When I opened the door of my car, my favorite coffee mug came rolling out and landed on my driveway in about a million pieces (ok, really it was about 10). I picked up the pieces and headed inside to mourn the loss of my favorite Seaside mug that was purchased last year on our Florida vacation. When I entered my kitchen I slipped on what I thought was water. I looked down and saw blood... oh so much blood! Apparently, a piece of the mug had cut my pinky toe and it had been bleeding all the way from the driveway to the kitchen and I didn't even know I had been cut! I do not like blood! It's a good thing our guest for the weekend is a doctor...
Well, I'm still alive... and it looks like we're gonna have to make another trip to Seaside to get another mug. ;)

Family News!

So I have some exciting and kind of sad news... my brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Amanda, are moving to AFRICA! Yup, that's right, I said Africa. They will be moving to the country of Mozambique! Our family is so excited for them but at the same time we will miss them very much. They will be back for Christmas for a few weeks, then head back across the big pond until next JUNE! I will miss them so much but thank goodness for skype!

On Labor Day weekend they came up here to hang out and say goodbye before they move. Here are a few of my favorite pics!

Chris and Amanda in their Louisiana Tech gear! Go Dawgs!
Chris snuggling with his nephew, Landon
"Uncle Biggs", Landon, and Aunt Amanda- I think they look pretty good with a little one in their arms, don't you? ;)

the boys:: my husband (in the middle) with my two brothers. I love this pic! I don't have too many pictures of the three of them.

So Long Starbucks:: Day 2

I woke to a dull headache that lasted literally all. day. long. Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way. I'm kind of an all or nothing person when it comes to...well, anything really, so why would coffee be any different, right? I made it to about 11am and my boss comes in with a steaming hot cup of Joe and my knees buckled and I think I got a little light headed at the thought of that warm intoxicating aroma. Yup, that was it. I headed down the hallway at work and poured myself a cup of coffee.

Maybe I'll just wean myself off....very slowly.

:)

On another note:: this is also Day 2 of no chocolate for me! Yay me!

So Long, Starbucks: Day 1

If you follow me over on my photography blog, then you probably saw my recent post about one my great loves, coffee. I finally admitted that I am in fact an addict. I love everything about it:: the smell, the taste, the coffee shops atmosphere... Sigh... Well, I suffer from Fibromyalgia (among other things but that's another post...) and everything I've ever read, especially lately, says that caffeine is one of the major causes for fibro flares up. I have tried before to get off coffee but have failed time and time again. :( It's just so yummy. So this time I thought I would blog my no-coffee journey sort of as an accountability journal. So cheers to no coffee! So long, Starbucks! By the way, I picked a REALLY bad day to start this because I go to Starbucks every Friday. I think I'll go get a de-caf. :) Is that allowed? I'll have to read up a little more on the detox thing.

The new bed and the DR. visit

What a fun & jam-packed weekend! B and I both had a full four days off of work! B had to take vacation days so that we could spend these four days together. We made big plans to get stuff done around the house that we never have time to do. Since B and I work very different schedules, it's hard for us to do "normal" weekend things together - like go to Home Depot, do yard work together or just go pick out new bedding. Our weekend started with the delivery of our much anticipated and much needed KING SIZE bed!

A couple of weeks ago we went to Ashley's furniture and spent over an hour testing different beds. We would lay on one, then another, then go back to the first one. This was a HUGE decision for us and we wanted to make sure it was perfect! Ashley's has this pressure mapping system that can actually tell you which bed is right for you according to which bed applies the least amount of pressure on your joints. It is a heat sensitive system that is all computerized-pretty cool.
The bed we chose was 100% right for B and about 76% right for me, according to the pressure mapping system, both of these numbers are very high considering some of the other beds were only 20% and 30%.
Friday morning our bed was delivered and we couldn't be more excited! :) It even have a remote controlled motorized head and foot lift. We are officially old. ha! But we don't care when being old means being THIS comfortable. :)

Friday after the bed was delivered I took 2 of our kids to the doctor. (aka pets to the vet) Hazel and Conner were both due for their yearly shots. I try to take 2 at a time so I go to the vet less frequently. Next time, I'll take Scooter and George. As the vet was examining Hazel, I mentioned to the doctor that she has a scratch of some sorts on her paw that was bothering her. In order to examine her further, they had to dope up Hazel. She was NOT a happy camper at all! She was growing like a dog. I have never heard a cat growl like that. She still has her back claws and she wasn't afraid to use them. The nurse had to give her another round of an sedatives to entirely knock her out. It was sad but also kind of funny at the same time. She was totally and completely limp. Her paw will be fine by the way - we think something was just stuck in her paw. The doc flushed it with saline solution and wrapped it up. It was funny to watch her hop around all day until we could take off the wrap. hehe.
We also found out that our cocker spaniel, Conner, has developed allergies in the last year. His poor paws and ears itch him all of the time. We aregoing to have to start giving him Benadryl twice a day. My poor animals had a rough day, but they were excited to come home to extra treats and a nice long nap on our new bed. :) And Conner got to ride home with the windows down- his favorite thing! :)
