Catastrophe Strikes Once More

This weekend was suppossed to be filling with packing as this is our last weekend living in our condo, but instead "Captain Disaster" decided to pay us a little visit.

It all started with a little puddle... We have three animals so little puddles are not uncommon in our household but it's nothing that a little RESOLVE carpet cleaner can't fix. Well, this was NOT one of those RESOLVES moments. What looked like a little puddle quickly turned into a huge masive river flowing through our dining room. (I might be exaggerating a little.) Nonetheless, this was a job for Roto Rooters! After sawing a hole through our wall under our sink to find the leak, RR found the leak and fixed it in a few hours time and a few hundred dollars later. What a way to spend your Saturday night huh.

Sunday morning we woke up to take the next step: water mitigation. Fancy word, I know. Two days ago I had never heard that word, but in the last 24 hours I have become very familiar with water mitigation, insurance claims, and dehumidifiers. ServPro came and accessed the damaged, ripped up our carpet, removed the wet pad underneath, and left us with several heavy duty fans to dry up the walls and carpet.

So on our last weekend in the condo, this is what we did. Fate has a funny way of turning things around and slapping you in the face, doesn't it. But I am just thankful it wasn't any worse than it was... and it looks like we will be able to salvage the carpet!

On a happier note, we get the keys to our house tonight! I can't wait to walk through the house for the first time since we closed and know that it is all ours!!! :)

Here are pics from the weekend from unheaven...
